The juwi group’s experienced development team can perform all phases of project development. Before we consider developing a project, we perform a detailed and comprehensive site analysis to determine its economic and environmental viability. We research the windiest locations, the ideal properties, and the optimal placement.
Our initial efforts involve establishing business relationships with the owners of a potential wind power site. Meteorological test towers are then installed to take accurate measurements of wind speed and direction across the land – usually for a year or more. A favourable site should also fall outside areas of environmental or other development constraints, and it must have good access to power transmission lines with the capacity to accommodate the energy generated by the proposed wind farm.
On those sites that demonstrate sufficient wind and other suitable conditions, we then secure the necessary planning approvals and building permits, and negotiate agreements to sell and transmit the energy generated by the project. Depending on the site, construction generally takes 3-6 months. Access and service roads are built, foundations are poured, towers, turbines and rotors are installed and the electrical infrastructure and grid connections are established.
The juwi group strives to make every project a win-win situation. Working with landowners to secure a site for development is one of our first objectives – it serves as the foundation for all future development activity. With site control secured in the form of a Land Agreement, we are able to tackle other issues that ultimately determine a wind project’s viability.
